Actors who book work frequently do not wait for their agent to ring them. By developing both your craft and career skills, you can start adding credits to your Spotlight and IMDB. Our coaching helps you strengthen your performance technique to make bold creative choices, but also develop your confidence with the business skills and strategy you need to create your own opportunities so you can move your career forward.

Our Acting Coaching Philosophy

Your career is built one step at a time and sometimes we have to redirect our focus on what matters. At Speaking Voices, we believe in investing in yourself and becoming 1% better every day, not just as an actor, but as a creative professional. Sometimes that means working your craft, flexing those creative muscles and other times, it’s taking initiative to create the career you want.

Our SPEAK Acting Framework recognises that both of these aspects are just important as each other. You cannot grow as an actor if you don’t work on them equally. To become successful it’s about who you know as well as what you know. Once you understand the business side to acting, you know what you’ll be able to do to increase your chances of booking your next role. This is where the real transformation starts.

From there, we not only help you work on your craft when you get that important audition but work with you to plan out how you can take your acting career to the next level by looking for and creating your own opportunities.

Victoria Chen is an award-winning actor and theatre-maker whose journey has taken her from drama school in Singapore to the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and onto the West End stage. She currently plays Mei in the RSC: My Neighbour Totoro, following credits including The Night Before Christmas at Polka Theatre, As You Like It at Orange Tree Theatre and The Chronicles of Atom & Luna.

With experience across theatre, comedy, devised and interactive performance, Victoria has worked internationally across the UK, Singapore, USA, China, Australia and Iceland. She was also awarded Best Emerging Artist at Melbourne Fringe for her solo show Charlie.

Vic now partners with Speaking Voices to deliver premium coaching to ambitious, career-driven actors who are ready to invest in their craft and pursue their biggest goals.

Our acting coaching is for actors who want to develop their craft, strengthen their acting skills or prepare for a specific role for an audition or self-tape. We work with actors of all levels, from actors starting their careers to seasoned actors who have multiple credits.

Absolutely. If you have an upcoming audition, self-tape or role you're working on, we can use your material as the focus of the session. All self tape scripts for castings will be kept confidential, especially when actors have signed NDAs.

Yes. Confidence is a huge part for actors to continue to develop and this is why we offer this as part of our coaching. We'll help you develop the mindset to trust your preparation, take risks, commit to your choices and feel confident in your performance.

Advanced is one hour that’s focused on developing your acting craft, practising and rehearsing your script.

Professional takes this further by focusing deeper on both your craft, helping you practise your script and filming the selftape which will take longer OR working on the direction of your career, which requires more planning and researching before putting together an action plan.

There's no set number. We make our coaching sessions very flexible for our actors. You might book one session to prepare for a specific audition or several sessions to work consistently on your craft and career.

Whilst our acting coaches are well versed in all mediums of being an actor, we only look specifically at helping actors refine their selftape auditions.

No. There is no single age or timeline for becoming an actor. There are many actors who start later on in life, like Morgan Freeman who was 48 or Melissa McCarthy who was 41.

We help actors of all ages and levels to reach their potential.

The actors who often book roles are the ones who are often investing in themselves. So yes, regular coaching is ideal if you want to consistently develop your craft, build confidence and have ongoing support as your career develops.

No all our sessions are online.

Our 1:1 Acting Coaching is currently for adults and is not designed for children. However, the programme we have that caters for children is the drama school audition programme which helps 16-17 year olds get into drama school.
