Voice Workshops

Body, Breath and Voice

Whether you are portraying a character on stage or on screen, maximise your vocal skills to unlock a new side to your performance.

About Me

Having been in the acting industry for over 8 years, training as an Actor and Voice Coach at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, I set up Speaking Voices helping people with their speaking voice.

Now I'm offering classes specifically for actors, to help build your confidence as a performer. The programme is designed to explore your voice, develop your technique, and build a strong foundation for your craft.

Course Content

This 3 hour Body, Breath and Voice class will provide comprehensive coaching to help relax your body, develop breath support and employ vocal techniques to enhance articulation and resonance in your vocal performance. Through the vocal exercises, you can free your voice and create a true connection with your audience by perfecting the use of consonants, vowels, tone, pitch and pace.

You will learn:

  • Primary voice techniques to enhance your performance

  • Breath support and control

  • Deep belly breathing

  • Importance of articulation, rhythm and resonance

  • Build confidence with your voice

  • Being present and in the moment

  • An effective vocal warm up to use on a daily basis

  • How the voice works and how the body and breath are interrelated

  • Developing skills to practise with any text

  • Make effective performance choices

  • Phonating with ease

Techniques include but not limited to Cecily Berry, Babara Houseman, Kristin Linklater, Alison Bomber and Patsy Rodenburg.

Please note that due to the nature of voice work, the course contains a certain amount of floor work. We recommend having a yoga mat or towel to put on the floor so you're comfy.

Weekly Drop Ins

Pay on the day up to 1 hour before the session starts, great for actors who want to hone in their skills but don't want to pay a chunk of money upfront.

Class Size

Maximum class size of 12. Our classes are designed to keep the class sizes small, so that each student can get the one-on-one attention.

Safe Space

Our weekly classes provide a safe environment to practice your acting and vocal skills in a supportive and encouraging atmosphere.
